Place the gate latch plate across the outside metal bar clamp it in place with a C-clamp and then tack weld each corner to the bar. Press the tip of the welding gun against the piece of metal. To get center on my arch though I pulled a tape from side to side then used a framing square to find center on the tape then transfer that line to the archwhich was about 14 above the tape. If you start an aluminum gate welding project then you will need a TIG welder as you cannot use a MIG welder with aluminum for a Stainless steel gate you will need a MIG welder or TIG welder dependent on your skill level as MIG welding is generally easier.
