Welding Exhaust Flanges Together. An Exhaust Flange consists of a pair of metal sections that join your exhaust pipe together. Then just weld a flange on to your exhaust pipe and you can bolt it up to the header.
Im more concerned with the flexability of the flange on your turbo. Or would it be better to just use a band clamp and butt them together. I was a bit pissed when I went under the TSX we bought in February--there was an 800 receipt for a new exhaust system but they welded the entire thing together including cutting out the flanges for the catalytic converter.
For example when welding a primary pipe the stoppers would be placed at each end of the tacked together tube.
Im more concerned with the flexability of the flange on your turbo. Could probably have it done for 50 bucks or so. I would want the midpipe and catback to be independent so they cannot apply so much force to the turbo housing. Once these are fitted on to the sections the sections can easily be removed or replaced in the future when needed without having to replace the whole exhaust.
