Welding Leaded Brass. With the exception of brasses containing lead Pb all the brasses are weldable the low zinc alloys being the easiest. C35300 High Leaded Brass.
C83600 Leaded Red Brass. C83600 Leaded Red Brass also known as SAE 40 and 85-5-5-5 Brass it is the most commonly used Red Brass. There are low medium and high leaded brasses with lead contents up to 35.

Muntz metal has strength and corrosion resistance similar to C46400 Naval Brass but the higher lead content results in better machinability. C48500 High Leaded Naval Brass. The main problem with welding the alloys is weld metal porosity caused by the zinc boiling off during melting. See Above Ball Brass Aluminum Foundry Inc.
