Welding Table Construction. Im going to build a welding table to use in my garage. This one is from the Hobart Welding Forums.
The shelves on our welding table are 28-inches apart. A solid table design with a highly stiff worktop eliminates deformation even at extreme temperatures. Usually a welding table ranges in size from 20 x 40 to 65 x 13.
You can read a complete discussion of our welding table build process here but the short version is that we start out by securely bolting every table top directly to a precision milled surface.
Only after securing the top to a reference surface do we add the ribs and sidewalls and secure them by bolting everything firmly in place before locking it in with hundreds of weld points. Here are a few details of my plan. Now you have a place to securely bolt your ground lead effectively grounding your worktable in a manner that allows the ground lead to lie flat on the floor thus reducing a tripping hazard. A practical layout of 28 mm diameter holes provides a high variability in welding options.
