Welding With Batteries Connected. With the battery connected there is a closed electrical loop where the voltage across the vehicles body could add to the batterys voltage and cause an overvoltage condition at the ECU. A convenient feature of 9V batteries is the metal claspers that allow them to be easily connected together which allowed me to connect all of my connected batteries in series to build a power bank of 100 V DC.
I had an X pipe built a couple months ago and they connected a device to the negative and positive battery terminals to prevent electrical damage. I read lots of service bulletins from GM ford. Not sure if the welding had anything to do with it.

A few days later the head unit screen started going white and rebooting itself. Smart welders are available with different welding powers and in different working areas. If too little welding energy is applied the connection lacks mechanical stability.
